Urban Editorial: Lincoln’s Party seeks Solutions

urban-newz “Where a man’s heart is, is where his treasures are; another biblical phrase of humanity showing the heart of the matter. And even though former State Secretary Colin Powell endorsed President-elect Obama a week before the election; according to NewsMax.com, Powell donated $2,300 to McCain during the primary election. Therefore; his loyalty to his party should merit the wisdom of his assessment of an aging Republican party who better get hip, and understand in our Democratic process, it’s not about voting conservative values. It’s about the policies that affect mainstream America as a whole; like the economy, natural man-made disasters, health care, education, social justice; valuables that Americans can feel.

Yes, most Americans do want the freedom of choice and they voted to maintain that freedom of choice. Unfortunately, politics on Abortion doesn’t stand strong in the face of a working man that’s lost his job and can’t feed his family. You won’t find him with a picket sign at the abortion clinic. Henceforth; if Republicans aim to target young, diverse voters; a degree of objectivity is going to have to be considered.

According to Newsmax.com; Colin Powell said, “I think the party has to stop shouting at the world and at the country. I think that the party has to take a hard look at itself, and I’ve talked to a number of leaders in recent weeks and they understand that.” said Powell.

Can you Mr. Republican, heed to Powell’s assessment? Can you maintain personal “conservative moral views” without shoving your conviction down the next person throat and building a platform on issues that appeals to the wealthy Octogenarians? You have to realize mainstream America worry more about food on the table, sons and daughters in a war; and justice in the courtroom. Can you guys relate to that? Are those issues foreign to your reality? That’s your Republican obstacle; you don’t seem to understand that there are two realities in America. They all may not have jets and oil, but they have the power of the vote that you felt in this past election. It’s time you meet mainstream voters half-way if you want to invite them to your party, or your flight to 2012 will reflect your 2008 defeat.

Mainstream and swing voters apparently are tired of party politics. It’s not about the Democrat Party, nor the Republican Party. It’s about American voters holding both parties accountable for the good of the nation. Party affiliation in the age of inclusion is an interesting dynamic.
